An iconic walk across England via the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors.
From £360 per person
Created by Alfred Wainwright, the Coast to Coast path crosses the breadth of the North of England from St Bees on the west coast to Robin Hood’s Bay on the east coast. Some of the most varied and beautiful scenery in the country lies ahead, spread over three National Parks.
Wainwright’s Coast to Coast Walking tour clambers the rugged mountains of the Lake District to earn views over glittering tarns. It winds through the pretty valleys of the Yorkshire Dales, and sets out across the expansive heather moorland of the North York Moors. Dramatic coastal scenery waits at the end, with a twisting descent to Robin Hood’s Bay. Choose this country-crossing walking holiday and explore the best landscapes of Northern England.
At long last, this well-known walking holiday is on its way to recognition as a National Trail. The work is still in progress, but anyone walking the Coast to Coast will notice brand new waymarkers going in, complete with the National Trail acorn. It’s an exciting time for one of Contours Holidays’ best-loved routes!
Dogs are welcome on select routes along this trail. Look for the pawprint icon when choosing your holiday.
We also organise trail running holidays along this route. Find out more.

This itinerary lists our preferred overnight stops for this tour. Sometimes there may be a shortage of available accommodation in a preferred location, in which case we will transfer you from the trail to your accommodation and back again at no extra charge. Overnight stops marked with a (T) will always require transfers as standard.
Overnight stops marked with an (L) have very limited accommodation, and therefore more often than not will also require a transfer, particularly on bank holidays and weekends. We will use non-transfer accommodation wherever possible.
The daily mileages quoted are average trail miles only and do not include the distance from the trail to your accommodation. We do not expect you to have to travel more than a mile from the trail to your accommodation in most cases; should your accommodation be further than this, transfers will be provided as standard if practical. A very limited number of stops will require you to travel on foot up to two miles off the trail, however these instances will be clearly communicated to you if applicable.
Further transfers may also be required due to some accommodations having a two-night minimum booking policy, especially at weekends.
Below are the additional costs that may apply depending on your requirements. Dog-friendly tours are subject to a Daily Dog Charge, which will be listed below if applicable. Our standard prices per person are based upon two people sharing a room; if you are on your own, or are part of a group but require a room of your own, then the Solo Traveller or Single Supplements apply respectively:

“We had a great holiday.”Ms McLaughlin, Canada
“Perfect weather which helped us a lot. Some challenges for us but we managed it. This holiday was postponed twice because of covid. As we are now in our 70\'s we were aware that we were 18 months/2 years older than when it was first booked which might have made a difference had the weather been awful. We enjoyed it all. We enjoyed it all. What was best about it was that every single day was different from the days before.”Mrs Cartledge, UK
“Fantastic experience will be relived and remembered for a long time! Everything went like clockwork no hitches or disappointments - Great organisation by Contours. Would recommend the holiday to others without hesitation.”Mr Johnson, UK
“This is the best long distance walk we have ever done! We will strongly recommend this holiday to our walk-loving friends. We are actually starting to think about doing a West Highlands Way + Ben Nevis + Great Glen Way walking holiday and we will consider Contours Walking Holidays.”Mr Tampieri, Canada
“This holiday was primarily about the walking and the scenery so was significantly weather dependent. Apart from a few showers the weather was excellent and previous weeks\' dry weather also ensured it was generally dry underfoot. The luggage transfers, apart from being a little late arriving a couple of times, seemed to work well. The accommodation was interestingly varied and generally good to excellent with only a few negatives.”Mr Shenton, UK
“Many thanks for arranging our coast to coast experience, it was truly amazing! We were so lucky with the weather as we only had one afternoon of rain and the rest was wall to wall sunshine so we were able to really appreciate the stunning views we encountered.”Mrs Suddaby, UK
“Everything I’ve come to expect from Contours. Lucky with the weather. Accommodation was all up to scratch! All good. A definite recommendation to walkers who have yet to try the C2C. Keep up the good work!”Mr Cooper, UK
“A very nice period without real busy towns and traffic, good way to see the diversity of landscape and people. The start was as expected the hard part because length of track and the weather in the Lake district.”Mr Kingma, Netherlands
“Really enjoyed, with a great sense of achievement in walking all the Coast to Coast walk in 16 days of walking.”Mrs Gilby, UK
